Validity of anthropometric measurements for estimation of obesity among geriatric residing in Bhavnagar city Gujarat, Western India

Background: Validity of anthropometric measurements has not been adequately evaluated in diverse geriatric population. We determine diagnostic accuracy body mass index using different assessing the obesity geriatrics.Methods: This community based cross sectional study was carried out Bhavnagar city among people (≥60) residing 13 wards during September 2019 to 2020. Anthropometric data (height, weight, mid upper arm circumference, waist hip and skinfold thickness) were measured. Prevalence measure by method compared kappa coefficient, sensitivity, specificity.Results: Fair agreement found between circumference BMI for obesity. High sensitivity low specificity at cut off 30 kg/m2 comparison other measurements.Conclusions: Body can be used screening geriatrics. however, should replace measurements.
